(1486) Marilyn is an asteroid of the main belt , which on August 23, 1938 by Belgian astronomer Eugène Joseph Delporte in Ukkel was discovered.

The name of the asteroid is derived from Marilyn Herget , the daughter of the American astronomer Paul Herget .
