(1717) Arlon is an asteroid of the main belt , which on January 8, 1954 by the Belgian astronomers Sylvain Arend in Uccle was discovered.

The name of the asteroid is derived from the Belgian city of Arlon .

The Ondrejov Observatory reported on January 17, 2006 that based on light curve investigations, conclusions could possibly be drawn about an asteroid's moon.
