(1792) Reni is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on January 24, 1968 by the Russian astronomer LI Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid is named in honor of the Soviet astronomer Alexander Deitsch after his birthplace Reni in southern Ukraine .
