(1815) Beethoven is an asteroid in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter . It has a diameter of 30 kilometers and was discovered on January 27, 1932 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .
The asteroid was named after the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven .
