(19162) Wambsganss is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 10, 1990 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The asteroid was named after the German astronomer and director of the Astronomical Computing Institute in Heidelberg , Joachim Wambsganß (* 1961).
