(1965) van de Kamp is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 24, 1960 by the Dutch research team Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels as part of the Palomar-Leiden Survey .

The asteroid was named on December 1, 1979 after the Dutch-American astronomer Peter van de Kamp .
