(22827) Arvernia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 8, 1999 by the Belgian astronomer Thierry Pauwels at the Observatoire royal de Belgique ( IAU code 012) in Uccle , Belgium.
The asteroid is named after the Latin name for the Auvergne region in central France .
