(2473) Heyerdahl is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 12, 1977 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Norwegian archaeologist , anthropologist , ethnologist and environmental activist Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002), who established experimental archeology through his research and made it known to a wide public.
