(2859) Paganini is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 5, 1978 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Italian composer and violinist Niccolò Paganini (1782–1840).
