(29197) Gleim is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on January 15, 1991 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid was named after the German poet of the Enlightenment period Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim (1719–1803), who founded the Halberstädter Dichterkreis , a federation of young writers, and was widely respected as "Father Gleim" well into old age.
