(29458) Pearson is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 30 September 1997 by the Italian-American astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code 684) in Arizona was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the British mathematician and professor at University College London Karl Pearson (1857-1936), who contributed to the theory of statistics with his definition of the correlation coefficient (Pearson correlation) .
