(30835) Waterloo is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 21 November 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on June 2, 2015 after the municipality of Waterloo in the province of Walloon Brabant in Belgium , in the vicinity of which the Battle of Waterloo was fought on June 18, 1815 , the outcome of which ended Napoleon's reign of the Hundred Days and with his final abdication on June 22, 1815 led to the end of the French Empire .
