(3288) Seleucus is an asteroid of the Cupid type , which was discovered on February 28, 1982 by Hans-Emil Schuster at the European Southern Observatory in La Silla .

The asteroid was named after the Diadoch Seleucus I , the founder of the Seleucid Empire .
