(3573) Holmberg is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 16 August 1982 by the Swedish astronomer Claes-Ingvar Lagerkvist at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Swedish astronomer Erik Bertil Holmberg (1908–2000), who was known for his studies of the interaction of galaxies .
