(4243) Nankivell is a major belt asteroid discovered on April 4, 1981 by Alan C. Gilmore and Pamela Margaret Kilmartin of the Mt John University Observatory in New Zealand.
The asteroid was named after Garry R. Nankivell , an optical craftsman from New Zealand.
