(425) Cornelia is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 28 December 1896 by the French astronomer Auguste Charlois in Nice was discovered.
The name of the asteroid is reminiscent of Cornelia Africana , daughter of the Roman general and consul Scipio 'Africanus' .
