(441) Bathilde is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on December 8, 1898 by the French astronomer Auguste Charlois in Nice.

The origin of the name has not been passed down. However, it is acceptable that the astronomer intended to honor the Merovingian queen Bathilde, in the French tradition a French queen who abolished slavery in the Merovingian Empire in the 7th century because of her belief.
