(4492) Debussy is a main belt asteroid discovered on September 17, 1988 by Eric Walter Elst of the Observatoire de Haute-Provence ( IAU code 511).

The asteroid is orbited by the natural satellite S / 2004 (4492) 1 , which is approximately 6 km in diameter.

The asteroid was named after the French composer Claude Debussy (1862–1918).
