(4506) Hendrie is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 24 March 1990 by the British astronomer Brian GW Manning at the observatory in Stakenbridge ( IAU code was discovered 494).

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.

The asteroid was named after the British amateur astronomer Michael J. Hendrie , who devoted himself to the systematic photography of comets from 1952 and was involved in the observation of the periodic comet 27P / Crommelin in 1956 . He promoted collaboration between amateurs and professional observers during the International Halley Watch in the 1980s and eventually headed the Comet Section of the British Astronomical Association for ten years .
