(686) Gersuind is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 15, 1909 by the German astronomer August Kopff in Heidelberg.
The asteroid was named after a main character in the drama Kaiser Karls Geisel, which premiered in 1908, by Gerhart Hauptmann .
