(689) Zita is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 12, 1909 by Johann Palisa at the Vienna University Observatory.
The asteroid was named after the last Empress of Austria, Zita von Bourbon-Parma , on the occasion of her wedding to Charles I in 1911.
