(72) Feronia is an asteroid in the main asteroid belt with a diameter of around 86 kilometers. The asteroid, named after Feronia , the goddess of forests from Roman mythology , was discovered on May 29, 1861 by the German-American astronomer Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters .
