(8676) Lully is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 February 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the Italian composer and ballet dancer Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632–1687), who with his new orchestral discipline not only continued and significantly shaped the French style, but also had an enormous influence on the European music landscape at the end of the 17th century .
