(9130) Galois is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 25 April 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the European Southern Observatory was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the French mathematician Évariste Galois (1811-1832), who achieved posthumous fame for his approaches to solving algebraic equations, the Galois theory .
