(9615) Hemerijckx is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 January 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on January 6, 2003 after the Belgian doctor Frans Hemerijckx (1902–1969), who from 1929 onwards devoted himself to combating leprosy in the Belgian Congo and India .
