1-methylguanosine (m 1 G) is a rare nucleoside and occurs in tRNA and rRNA . It consists of β- D- ribofuranose (sugar) and 1-methylguanine . It is a derivative of guanosine which is methylated in the 1-position . Base pairing is not possible due to the methylation in the 1-position . For example, 1-methylguanosine is located in tRNA Ala at position 9 between the acceptor arm and the dihydrouracil arm.
