1- O -Methylgalactose is a monosaccharide and thus a representative of the carbohydrates .

1- O -methyl galactose comes in two forms, α and β. Of course, it is produced in the large-fruited cranberries . Presumably it is involved in the inhibition of the colonization of the urinary tract by Escherichia coli, which causes bladder infections, after ingestion of cranberry juice .
