1-Tetradecene is a chemical compound from the group of aliphatic , unsaturated hydrocarbons .

Extraction and presentation

1-tetradecene can be prepared by oligomerization of ethylene a using Triethylaluminiumkatalysators and fractional distillation are obtained of the resulting alpha-olefin mixture.

properties

1-Tetradecene is a flammable, hardly inflammable, colorless liquid with a pleasant odor, which is practically insoluble in water.

use

1-Tetradecene is used in the production of linear plasticizers , oxo alcohols, fuels and lubricants, automotive additives, biodegradable surfactants and also mercaptans , flavors and fragrances, alkyl metals, halides, alkylsilanes, etc. It is also used as a co- monomer in polymers such as low density polyethylenes to make them lighter, thinner, more flexible and more tear resistant.
