The 1st Corps Sarajevo ( Bosnian Prvi korpus Armije Republike Bosne i Hercegovine ) was one of seven corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Bosnian War . It was responsible for the region around Sarajevo and fought against the army of the Republika Srpska during the siege of the city . In 1995 the number of soldiers was around 40,500.

history

With the resolution of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina of August 18, 1992 and the order of the Supreme Command of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina of September 1, 1992, the 1st Army Corps was founded in Sarajevo. The units of the corps entered all the military units of the Sarajevo region formed up to then with about 30,000 soldiers. Mustafa Hajrulahovic-Talijan was appointed commander. Deputy was Vahid Karavelic and Chief of Staff Enver Hadzihasanovic. In 1997 the 1st, 3rd and 7th Corps were incorporated into the 1st Corps of the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
