Dobrinja ( Cyrillic  Добриња ) is a district in the west of Sarajevo which administratively belongs to the municipality of Novi Grad . According to estimates, Dobrinja has around 40,000 inhabitants. It is located north of Sarajevo Airport, below the Mojmilo hill . The place got its name from the stream of the same name where it is located.

The district is divided into Mjesne zajednice (MZ Dobrinja A, B, C and D). Dobrinja is mostly in the canton of Sarajevo in the federation , apart from small parts of Dobrinja IV and Dobrinja I, which belong to the municipality of Istočno Novo Sarajevo in the Republika Srpska .

history

The first construction work for the housing estate was completed in 1983. The settlements were mainly used for athletes who participated in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . It also included a school and a trolleybus to the city center.

During the siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War 1992-96, the front line ran through the middle of the district, which was badly damaged.
