Hold on Love (with Azure Ray) 11:11 Lynn Teeter Flower

11:11 is Maria Taylor's first solo album after the temporary breakup of her band Azure Ray . The album was recorded with the help of guests such as Gretta Cohn ( Cursive ), Andy LeMaster ( Now It's Overhead ), Taylor's partner Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis ( Bright Eyes ). In the video "Easy / Lucky / Free" by Bright Eyes, the album is pointed out at 2:40 minutes by Oberst writing the title on a pane of glass.

Style description

laut.de sorts “11:11” as “electronically influenced indie folk”. References to folk, jazz and pop were also found. At Plattentests.de the album is certified as having a "very aptly captured late-at-night atmosphere". Taylor skilfully handles small folk songs and allows relatively little leeway for electronic barriers . Taylor has been compared to singers like Carole King , Laura Nyro, and Rickie Lee Jones .

According to Taylor, since the end of Azure Ray, Taylor has changed her approach to include the feasibility of the songs on stage more.

Critical appraisal

According to laut.de , Taylor's solo debut does not stand out significantly from her work with Azure Ray. However, her voice is "unique and unmistakable" and makes "a large part of the charm of the songs". “11:11” achieved a metascore of 78. The AV Club review assumes that “11:11” is the prettier album compared to Orenda Fink's solo debut .
