Mike Mogis

Mike Mogis is a producer and multi-instrumentalist from Nebraska who, along with his brother AJ Mogis, co-founded the Presto! Recording Studios (formerly Dead Space Recording, previously Whoopass Recording) founded.

Life

Mike Mogis has developed, produced, and performed many of the Saddle Creek label's publications . He has been involved in recordings by, among others, Bright Eyes , The Faint , Rilo Kiley , Cursive , The Good Life , Lullaby for the Working Class, Jenny Lewis , Tilly and the Wall , Justin Townes Earle and Elizabeth & The Catapult. He has also produced an album with Rachael Yamagata .

He became a permanent member of the Bright Eyes and was a member of both Lullaby for the Working Class and We'd Rather Be Flying. His main instrument is the guitar, but he also plays mandolin , banjo , pedal steel guitar , glockenspiel and dulcimer as well as other instruments. More recently, he worked with former Test Icicles member , Lightspeed Champion (aka Devonte Hynes), on his debut album, Falling Off the Lavender Bridge .

In the movies Still Love! (2008), Love Stories (2012) and Das Schicksal ist ein Louser Verräter (2014) Mogis was involved in the composition of the film music.

He has a daughter, Stella, who can be heard alongside his wife Jessica on Bright Eyes' album Digital Ash in a Digital Urn .
