Fevers and Mirrors is the third album by Bright Eyes . It was introduced to Presto! At the end of 1999 . Recording Studios in Lincoln , Nebraska and released through Saddle Creek in May 2000 .

After the penultimate song An Attempt to Tip the Scales, there is a fake radio interview with singer Conor Oberst . In reality, Todd Baechle (of The Faint ) is imitating the voice of Colonel. The interviewer is Matt Silcock . However, based on the content of the interview, the listener can already guess that the interview is probably fake.

reception

Like its predecessors, the album did not make it into the US album charts, but received mostly positive reviews when it was released. For example, forgave Allmusic 4.5 of 5 points and compared the style of the album with bands like Radiohead , Blur and Suede . At the same time it was noted that the album sounds " lo-fi " . The album received a 7/10 on the New Musical Express .

Pitchfork Media , on the other hand, gave a rather average rating for the album release with a grade of 5.2 out of 10 possible points. Nevertheless, the album later made it to number 170 of the best albums of the 2000s on Pitchfork and the song The Calendar Hung Itself ... to number 252 of the best songs of the 2000s.
