- Antiochus IV , who was built up by the Attalids in Pergamon as a counter-pretender to his brother Seleucos IV , can take over the rule of the Seleucid kingdom without a fight because Seleucus is murdered by his chancellor Heliodorus . Seleucus' son Demetrios is still a minor at the time of his father's murder and is held hostage in Rome . Antiochus IV receives the approval of the Roman Senate . Before that he had also lived as a hostage in Rome for 14 years.
