House no. 1 comes from a new building from 1965 and is not part of the ensemble.

description

The three-story row of buildings takes up the entire square between Clairmont Gardens and Somerset Place Mews as well as Elderslie and Clifton Streets . It was created around 1857.

The buildings with a classical design are three axes wide. The masonry of polished ashlar is rusticated in the area of the ground floor . The entrance areas, accessible via short pre-staircases with cast-iron balustrades , are designed with side windows and are suspected by grooved cornices resting on ornamented consoles . Fluted window cornices structure the facade horizontally. On the first floor, canted oriels protrude on the left . Ornate cornices on consoles suspect the windows above the entrance on the first floor. The final cornice is designed with acroteria . The seated hip roofs are covered with slate.

The higher classification of house no. 4 results from the comparatively detailed interior design. These include a vestibule with columns and dome, various mirror surfaces, the cast iron parapet of the main staircase and an elaborately designed open marble fireplace.
