Extraction and presentation

2-Nonanone can be obtained by dry distillation of barium caprylate with barium acetate or oxidation of methylheptylcarbinol at room temperature with chromic acid .

use

2-Nonanone is used as a flavoring, e.g. for lavender fragrances and cheese. It is also used as an intermediate in the chemical industry and as a solvent.
