The locomotives of the class 2ЭС10 (2ES10) of the Russian Railways (RŽD) are wide-gauge (1520 mm) electric locomotives that are designed for the 3 kV direct current network. It is an eight-axle double locomotive for heavy goods traffic that has been given the designation granite . It was developed as part of a joint venture between Siemens and the Russian Sinara Group and presented in 2011 by the Ural Lokomotivenfabrik (OOO Uralskie Lokomotivy) in Yekaterinburg .

In 2010 the RŽD ordered 221 locomotives of this series, which are to be delivered between spring 2011 and 2016. They are to be used to pull freight trains weighing up to 7,000 tons from Tyumen , Yekaterinburg and Perm to Balesino . In 2011, 11 locomotives were produced as a pilot series and series production began in October 2012.

commitment

The first pre-series locomotive was delivered on November 18, 2010 for test purposes. The first test runs were successfully carried out in 2011 with a 7,000-ton and a 9,000-ton freight train on the 22-kilometer-long, intercontinental Ural mountain stretch west of Yekaterinburg with an incline of up to 11 per thousand. A three-part variant with another half of the locomotive was used for the 9,000-ton train. Since in this case the freight trains no longer have to be divided, there is not only an increase in productivity but also an increase in the line capacity of the heavily used lines. In February 2014, the locomotives from the Chelyabinsk depot will be used on the route to Slatoust - Kropachovo .
