3,3-Dimethyl-1-butanol ( neohexanol ) is an aliphatic , primary alcohol from the homologous series of alkanols with the empirical formula C 6 H 14 O. Like neopentanol, it has a quaternary carbon atom .
The presentation is made by hydrogenation of esters of 3,3-dimethylbutanoic .
