4-bromamphetamine ( 4-BA ), also known as para- bromamphetamine ( PBA ), is an amphetamine derivative that releases the neurotransmitters serotonin , dopamine and norepinephrine and has stimulating effects. Like most other para -substituted amphetamines, 4-BA is extremely neurotoxic and causes selective destruction of serotonin neurons in the brain. It is more potent here than 4-chloramphetamine .

In Switzerland, 4-bromamphetamine, like 4-fluoramphetamine and other bromamphetamines, is subject to the Swissmedic Narcotics Ordinance.
