  • The Avtopat A1 is a North Macedonian national road that has been developed as a four-lane motorway. It is a section of the former Yugoslav Brotherhood and Unity Highway and thus part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X .

    Expansion status

In 2007 a contract was signed with Serbia and Greece, which provided for the expansion of the entire Belgrade-Thessaloniki axis into a motorway.

On September 8, 2011, after four years of construction, the 7.4 km long and 15.5 million euro section from the Serbian border to Tabanovce was completed. For the complete four-lane expansion, only the 28.8 km long section from Demir Kapija to Smokvica , which was finally opened in spring 2018, was missing .
