Airlines for America

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Airlines for America ( A4A ) is an umbrella organization for American airlines . A4A was founded in 1936 as the Air Transport Association ( ATA ) in Chicago by 14 airlines and is still the most important association of airlines in the USA .

tasks

The main task of the A4A is to represent the interests of airlines vis-à-vis the US government with regard to regulations relating to air traffic.

The A4A sets the standards in many areas, which are then adapted by airlines around the world. This is, for example, the ATA100 , which describes how conventional maintenance manuals are structured in chapters . The continuation is the new ATA2000 , which actually describes the same thing, but for digital documentation (CD-ROM). These standards are observed by all suppliers to the aviation industry and enable maintenance personnel to find the right chapters in various documents relatively easily.

But the areas of the A4A go further, the growing importance of fuel quality and its handling at airports has been increasingly controlled in recent years via the ATA Spec 103 and often requires changes and further training of the supervising staff.

A more recent focus of the A4A is so-called Simplified English , a standard in the expression of the English language in the aviation environment is now to be generated. These approaches are z. B. already taken up by the engine manufacturers and taken into account in new revisions.
