ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup

The ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup was a racing series held from 2004 to 2009 as part of the DTM supporting program , which was intended to enable young up-and-coming drivers to enter professional racing. In terms of motorsport and technology, it was one of the one-make cups . The forerunner was the "Wintershall VW Polo Cup", which was held in the 1980s. In 2010 the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup was replaced by the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup .

Racing version of the VW Polo

The vehicles used were based on the production version of the VW Polo , but were converted to meet the requirements of racing. The 1060 kg heavy racing polo shirts were driven by a series - four cylinder - Otto engine with FSI direct injection, with a capacity reached 1984 cm a power output of 110 kW (150 hp). Power was transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed gearbox. The brake system was adopted from the production version of the VW Golf R32 .
