The 1926-27 season was the American Hockey Association's (AHA) first regular season . The Duluth Hornets became champions .

mode

In the regular season, the six teams were supposed to play 40 games each, but the schedule had to be changed after the Detroit Greyhounds withdrew. The top three teams qualified for the playoffs, with the first place in the regular season qualified directly for the final. The playoffs were played in the best-of-five mode. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
