The AK-230 is a ship-based Soviet anti-aircraft gun in the 30 × 210 mm B caliber.

development

The AK-230 was the first Soviet anti -aircraft gun in 30 mm caliber and was intended to replace the outdated 25 mm anti-aircraft systems. Development began in the 1950s and was completed in 1969. During development, Osa-class rocket boats and Shershen-class torpedo boats were used as test platforms. By the 1980s, over 1,450 guns were built in the Soviet Union and around 300 in China (known there as the Type 69 ). Almost every Soviet Navy ship built between 1960 and 1980 had an AK-230 system on board. The successor is the AK-630 system.

technology

The AK-230 works on the revolver principle with water-cooled barrels . A PUS M-104 “Rys” radar ( Russian ПУС М-104 “Рысь” , NATO code “Drum Tilt”) usually takes over the fire control. However, the target data can also be provided by a remote-controlled optical fire control device. On many smaller ships, the AK-230 is also used to combat ship targets. So it is the main barrel weapon of the rapid missile delivery service of the Osa class. Each barrel has 500 rounds of ready-to-use ammunition . High-explosive, fragmentation and armor-piercing shells can be fired.
