action

A total of four refugee protagonists from Berlin, Mönchengladbach and Stuttgart face new challenges when they arrive in a new home. Be it finding access to German society, continuing your studies or finding a job. The film gives deep insights into the thoughts of those we think we know everything about. Prominent cabaret artists and actors but also politicians have their say and tell of very personal experiences as well as their expectations of society and politics.

Criticism and votes

WDR reported on the film in the local time in Düsseldorf on November 24, 2015: “ ASYLAND differs from many other documentaries. Because in this film we talk to the refugees - and not about them ”. On February 22, 2016, WDR reported on ASYLAND in West ART magazine and spoke to studio guest Navid Kermani about the film. The Federal Agency for Civic Education already drew attention to the film under the heading “A voice for refugees”. The Rheinische Post headlined the film under the heading "Refugees on the big screen". During the crowdfunding campaign, the local magazine Der Hindenburger reported on the front page of the project with the headline “The best way to reduce prejudice”.

The film has already reached prominent guests such as Aydan Özoğuz (Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees & Integration), Volker Beck (Spokesman for domestic affairs for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen), Hubertus Koch (award winner, German TV Prize) and others.
