The AUREUM Saxophone Quartet is an Austrian saxophone quartet that is primarily active in classical music and crossover . It consists of the four Austrian musicians Martina Stückler (soprano saxophone), Johannes Weichinger (alto saxophone), Viola Jank (tenor saxophone) and Lukas Seifried (baritone saxophone).

history

The four members got to know each other during their studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and founded the ensemble in 2015. Concerts have taken her to the Wiener Konzerthaus , the Wiener Musikverein , MuTh , Porgy & Bess (jazz club) and many other renowned venues and festivals. The AUREUM Saxophone Quartet is part of the concert series and programs Musica Juventutis , Jeunesse , Live Music Now , The New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM) and the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) .

In addition, the ensemble is regularly involved in music education and is involved in the social field. The music education project #klanginsel "Make yourself a picture of the sound" was the result of a successful cooperation with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria .

AUREUM works with a wide variety of musicians and artistic personalities at home and abroad, including Leonhard Paul , Oto Vrhovnik , Barbara Strack-Hanisch, Michaela Reingruber, Viola Falb , Otto Brusatti , Rudolf Pietsch , Gerald Resch and Markus Kupferblum .

The AUREUM Saxophone Quartet moves between tradition and modernity without being restricted. All four members incorporate their musical preferences into the repertoire and combine classical, jazz, world music and real folk music at the highest level.
