A Christmas Carol from 1971 is a cartoon based on the book of the same name by Charles Dickens .

action

London in 1843, the businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is a stingy old man who does not want to share the Christmas joy of his fellow men before the coming festival. He doesn't let his nephew invite him to Christmas. He refuses to donate to two fundraisers . In the evening he goes home from his company, where he wants to go to sleep immediately. But then his dead business partner Jacob Marley appears to him, coming out of his bedroom door , who tells him that three ghosts will haunt him . The ghosts give Scrooge a chance to escape the evil fate that awaits him after his death.

The first ghost appears to show him what he did wrong in the past. Then the second ghost appears to him, showing him what he has done wrong for this year's Christmas. Finally the third spirit appears to him, which shows him what will follow from his actions in the future. Scrooge has now finally recognized his mistakes and praised improvement. Suddenly he's back home in his bed. The sun has just risen and Ebenezer Scrooge is happy that he still has a second chance.

He takes advantage of this Christmas morning immediately. He buys a Christmas goose for the family of his colleague Bob Cratchit , to whom he previously paid a low salary. He promises the fundraiser a large donation. He's going to his nephew's Christmas party after all. He increases the salary of his colleague Bob Cratchit and in doing so also helps his sick son Tim , who would die without Scrooge's repentance. Ebenezer Scrooge keeps the resolutions he has made and becomes a second father for little Tim.
