George Michael achieved his first solo success in the fall of 1984 with Careless Whisper . Two years later this inspired him again to start a single-handed attempt at success with A Different Corner . This song was recorded for the sessions between 1984 and 1985, but was published by Michael himself.
It was published on March 24, 1986. The soft rock song became a number one hit in Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Norway .
As a posthumous tribute, Chris Martin sang A Different Corner at the Brit Awards 2017 - partly in a virtual duet with the late George Michael, which was played over a large screen .
