Fantastic is the debut album by British pop duo Wham! . It was released on July 9, 1983 by Innervision / Columbia Records .

Creation and publication

The album was recorded in the Maison Rouge studio in London . Producers were Steve Brown and Bob Carter along with George Michael , who wrote most of the songs. All four singles have already been released in advance. With Love Machine a cover of the Motown group The Miracles was chosen.

In October 1983 the duo went on the Club Fantastic Tour in the United Kingdom.

reception

The album reached number one in Great Britain, number seven in the charts in the Federal Republic of Germany and number 25 in Switzerland . The album also reached the top position in New Zealand . In the USA, the Wham debut was not yet an outstanding sales success, where it reached number 83, but was later certified with gold . In the United Kingdom, however, it went triple platinum.
