A Metamorfose dos Pássaros (English Festival Title The Metamorphosis of Birds) is a fictional Portuguese documentary film under the direction of Catarina Vasconcelos . The debut film had its world premiere at the Berlinale in February 2020 in the Encounters section .

Beatriz marries Henrique, a naval officer, on her 21st birthday. He spends a lot of time at sea. On land, Beatriz, who learns everything from the vertical spatial position of plants, takes care of the roots of her six children.

A Metamorfose dos Pássaros was developed by First Age as part of the Arché do Doclisboa workshop and the Archidoc writing program of the Paris film school La Fémis . It is a fictional documentary inspired by the director's own family, especially her relationship with her grandmother, wife of a naval officer and cornerstone of the family.

Manuel Rosa, João Móra, Ana Vasconcelos, Henrique Vasconcelos, Inês Campos, Catarina Vasconcelos, José Manuel Mendes, João Pedro Mamede, Cláudia Varejão, Luísa Ministro, José Maria Rosa, Ana Margarida Vasconcelos, José Vasconcelos, João Vasconcelos, play important roles in Nuno Vasconcelos, Teresa Vasconcelos, Pedro Vasconcelos and Henrique Serpa de Vasconcelos.

The film by Catarina Vasconcelos is related to the new Quantum Creole project by multimedia artist Filipa César , a co-production with France, Germany and Spain. This will be presented as an “experimental documentary” in the Forum Expanded side series. It expands the installation that Filipa César brought to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2019 .

The film was produced by Pedro Fernandes Duarte , Joana Gusmão and Catarina Vasconcelos, with Primeira Idade as the production company.

The debut film had its world premiere at the Berlinale in February 2020 in the Encounters section .
